The Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) is a certified body that exists to help organisations and people succeed through effective internal communication and employee engagement. For the past 70 years, the IoIC has been dedicated to raising standards and driving forward the agenda for internal communication, while bringing together an ever-growing community of passionate IC professionals.
Our interaction with the IoIC spans the decade. Back in 2013 Rich, Creative Director of dogeatcog, won the national IoIC Designer of the Year award for his contribution to employee-led design work.
Since then, our relationship with the IoIC team has evolved; for the past six years we’ve been working as an extension of their marketing team, producing a range of materials including working with editorial agency Artful Dog to deliver assets for the IoIC members magazine, ‘Voice’, national awards branding, festival identities and membership areas.
Our relationship with the IoIC continues to grow from strength to strength, and in 2021 we’ve been delighted to work on a number of high-profile projects.
We’re proud to once again showcase the IoIC National Awards identity, which we’ve rolled out across digital and print platforms.
Now in its 66th year, these industry awards identify and celebrate outstanding work in the field of internal communication by organisations, individuals and teams.
Being a member of the IoIC demonstrates commitment to best practice and allows professionals to elevate their status, develop new skills, network and further their careers.
Members also benefit from ‘members only’ access on the IoIC website, where they can access extra resources. As a members’ perk, we produced an assets pack which allows members to adapt their email footers and social profiles with the recognisable membership identity, using a modern illustration style and paired back colour palette.
Working with the IoIC marketing team, we’ve also produced clear and easy to use social media templates allowing for news and announcements on membership benefits, which can be adapted easily.
Having worked on several social media campaigns with the team, we saw great results from creating the IoIC GIPHY channel. These custom stickers allow the audience to get actively involved in campaigns across social channels.
The latest range of stickers, which we created as part of the inaugural IoIC Festival 2021 identity, saw the IoIC GIPHY Channel reach 300,000+ views.
The two-day festival, which took place in October 2021, bought together professionals after 18 months of limited contact due to coronavirus to Connect, Inspire and Learn.
Collaborating with the IoIC team on the identity, our aim was to find a sympathetic balance. The vibrant, dynamic and playful identity brings in brighter tones to the colour palette to help boost motivation, while also acknowledging the varying levels of anxiety people may suffer due to the pandemic with calming pastel hues.
Going forward, we’re looking forward to increasing our involvement and contribution to the internal communications community, helping to shape conversations and create good trouble.
